Global Outreach Team Purpose Statement and Values

The Global Outreach Team exists to help DEC in fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission.  (Matthew 28: 18-20)

From The Times

Dorcas Educational Center
Senou, Mali - Africa

Some of you have asked the question “What is the Dorcas Educational Center?”  It is a center presently in construction in Senou, Mali Africa that will house kids that are abandoned by their family or they are orphans. In Mali there are a lot of those kids that are not attending school and living in the streets.  The vision that the National church in Mali has, is to provide a home for these children where they will grow in safety, love, and in the knowledge of the Lord.

Without international partners it will make it very difficult to complete this project because the churches in Mali are too poor to build such a center.  The construction was started in November 2006.  We now have a concrete block fence around the property the size of two football fields.  A well has been dug and the construction of the dorm (a 2 story building) has started (see picture).

MMI is lending a hand to this project by sending 100% of the donations for the building of the center.

We thank the Durham Evangelical Church in NH for their financial contribution in starting the construction of the dorm and to all the friends of Medical Mission International who believe in this project

Child Voice International
update by Bev Lauer

Things are very busy in Lukodi, at the ChildVoice Center. We are busy, preparing to build on our new land and planning a larger center to house about 1,000 former child soldiers. We are purchasing livestock, planting gardens and the girls are learning how to bake and run a business as they are selling bread and brownies (yes brownies!).

The girls have been learning about and growing closer to Jesus, and have unfortunately had a few run-ins with the enemy. At this time prayer is very important for the girls at ChildVoice.  Here is a report from Lowna, one of the interns working with the girls:

“ Last night: I joined the girls for prayers and worship - and (one of the girls who had recently been under spiritual attack) was there helping leading it and laughing - God is good and really does heal His people.
It is a huge comfort to know others are praying for us and we are also encouraging the girls to do so too.  There are really powerful prayers being said during chapel and evening worship.

The girls are really surprising me - they are understanding the gospel better than most of the university students I worked with.  They are also hungry for God’s salvation and willing to accept it - what more can we ask for.

Thanks for your continued prayer and words of encouragement for those who are in the midst of the struggle in Lukodi.  Together, we are making a difference.”

We seek to develop and multiply those who are GOING.

We seek to be part of raising up laborers from DEC to answer the call to go, and to resource others from our greater local body.  We seek to encourage and support those going (and those that have already gone) in the areas of preparation, logistics, finances, prayer, communication and re-entry.  We seek to emphasize and be involved in direct, hands-on ministry.

We seek to develop and multiply those who are SENDING.

We seek to raise awareness of the ministry of sending workers out into the harvest and to highlight its importance in finishing the great task of making disciples in all nations.  We seek to offer educational and experiential opportunities about global and cultural issues that have an influence on the spread of the gospel among the nations.  We seek to resource our body with materials that will help them to be aware of God’s work, to pray, to communicate with and care for our workers.  In order to provide the most effective and efficient ministry goals, we encourage missionary support to be channeled through the church.

We value the following:

  • Sending workers to unreached peoples*

  • Supporting and training nationals toward healthy growth in areas where the church is weak

  • Caring for the poor, sick and neglected (spiritually and physically) in order to defend and confirm the character of God and His Kingdom

  • Investing in the Christian ministries at UNH

  • Cooperating with other Seacoast Evangelical Ministers Fellowship churches to send workers out

  • Developing our skills in equipping and sending

  • Educating ourselves about current trends in missions

  • Sending out short term trips with long term sustainable goals/partnerships

  • Careful communication

  • Asking heart-level questions about the ministries we support

  • Using our unique gifts and skills as a body to further God’s Kingdom

  • Considering the support of various regional/domestic ministries

  • Evaluating annually (strategies, values, team activities, missionaries and ministries supported)

  • Accountability
